Love That Holds, Heals, and Lasts

Love That Holds, Heals, and Lasts

Valentine’s Day often comes wrapped in red roses, heart-shaped boxes, and sweet words meant to express love. And while those gestures are beautiful, I’ve learned over the years that love runs much deeper than a single day or a fleeting moment. Love is not only something we celebrate — it is something we practice, something we live, something we are continually shaped by.

The love I’ve come to cherish most is the love that shows up quietly and consistently. The kind that listens when words are hard to find. The kind that stays when circumstances change. The kind of love that reflects the very heart of God — patient, enduring, and full of grace.

When I create or craft, love is always stitched into the process. Whether I’m designing a card, working with fabric, or putting the finishing touches on a handmade piece, each step feels like a prayer. There is intention in choosing colors, care in shaping details, and joy in imagining the person who will one day receive it. Crafting reminds me that love is not rushed — it is built, layer by layer.

As I work with my hands, I often reflect on how God works with us the same way. He shapes us gently, lovingly, never discarding what He has created, even when the process takes time. Love, after all, is God’s masterpiece.

This Valentine’s Day, I invite you to pause and consider the love that surrounds you — the love of family, friends, community, and the unfailing love of God. And if you feel led, express that love creatively. Write a note. Make something with your hands. Share a moment. Love multiplies when it is given freely.

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” — 1 Peter 4:8
